GridCore Achieves Grid Code Compliance in Record Time

Using AUV's parametric sweep capability, GridCore validated their 3MW solar inverter across 1,200 operating conditions in a single afternoon — a process that previously took two weeks.

What used to take our team two weeks of manual simulation now runs in an afternoon. The parametric sweep capability alone justified the switch.

The Challenge

GridCore Energy needed to validate their new 3MW string inverter design across 1,200 operating conditions required for IEC 62116 and UL 1741 grid code compliance. Their previous approach — running each condition manually in PSIM — took two engineers approximately two weeks of dedicated effort per certification cycle.

With three inverter variants in the pipeline and tight regulatory deadlines, GridCore needed a way to dramatically accelerate their validation workflow without compromising accuracy.

The Solution

GridCore adopted AUV's simulation platform with a focus on two capabilities: the parametric sweep engine and the Python API for automation. Together, these allowed them to define all 1,200 test conditions in a structured parameter file and execute them as a single batch job.

Automation Pipeline

Using AUV's Python API, GridCore's validation engineer built a script that: (1) reads the compliance test matrix from a spreadsheet, (2) configures the simulation for each operating point (voltage, frequency, power factor, temperature), (3) runs the simulation, and (4) extracts key metrics (THD, response time, anti-islanding detection time) into a compliance report.

The Results

The entire 1,200-condition compliance sweep now runs in a single afternoon on a standard engineering workstation. What previously consumed two engineer-weeks became a 4-hour automated process.

Beyond the time savings, the automated approach eliminated human errors in test configuration — a significant concern when a single missed operating point could delay certification. The generated compliance reports also standardized the format accepted by their certification body.
